The Story

ORIGAMI Cup Canada 2026 is an official Origami Japan event, co-hosted by Rogue Wave Coffee and The Roasters Pack.

Competitor ticket details

  • Tickets will be available on Friday, June 5 at 7:00pm MDT. If the event appears Sold Out, please click "Notify me when available" to join our waitlist. Transferring tickets is not permitted — if you cannot attend, we will work through the waitlist.
  • Limited to 1 ticket per person. 27 available tickets.
  • Attendee tickets will be available in early July.
  • If tickets are sold out after June 5, click "Notify me when available" and sign up for a notification to join the waitlist. 
  • Ticket purchasers will receive an email confirmation and further details closer to the date.

Event Details 

  • Location: The Roasters Pack — 87 Wade Avenue, Unit 101, Toronto, ON
  • Date: Friday, August 7, 2026
  • Time: 6:00pm–10:00pm (~3.5–4 hours)
  • Competitors: 27
  • Format: 1v1v1 blind tasting, multi-round tournament

Prizes

🏆 The first-place winner receives a trip to Japan to compete in the World ORIGAMI Cup in May 2027, including return flights and accommodations during the competition.

Additional prizes include:

  • Cash prize for top 3 winners
  • ORIGAMI Dripper Trophies
  • 1ZPRESSO hand grinder

Competition Format

Each round features 3 competitors brewing simultaneously. After 3 rounds (27→9→3→1), the 2026 Canada ORIGAMI Cup Champion is crowned.

Timing & Judging

  • 4 minutes prep (no extraction during prep)
  • 6 minutes brewing/extraction — minimum 150ml of brewed coffee required
  • Blind judging: judges simultaneously indicate their preferred cup; the bowl is lifted to reveal the winner
  • In the event of a tie, the Head Judge decides.

Equipment Provided

  • ORIGAMI Drippers (porcelain and resin)
  • ORIGAMI paper filters (wave and cone)
  • 1ZPRESSO hand grinders (ZP6 and K-Ultra)
  • Carafe, scale, cupping bowls and spoons, kettles
  • Competition coffee beans
  • APAX water

You May Bring

  • Kettle
  • Scale
  • Grinder
  • Water (no flavour additives)
  • Extraction aids (stir stick, Paragon, Melodrip)
  • Thermometer
  • Sieves

Rules

  • You must use the official ORIGAMI dripper. No other drippers permitted at the competition station.
  • Only the provided competition coffee may be used.
  • Minimum 150ml of brewed coffee must be submitted within the 6-minute extraction window. Coffee not submitted in time will not be evaluated and the competitor will be disqualified.
  • Any rule violation may result in disqualification.
  • We reserve the right to surprise you.
  • Have fun!

Coffee Pickup

  • A small amount of competition coffee will be available before the event — date and time are TBD.
  • A fresh bag of the same coffee will be provided to each competitor at the start of the competition.

Please note: A videographer and photographer will be on site.
